Two internal and three external candidates are among the five finalists being considered for the vacant Washoe County School District superintendent position.
The finalists announced Monday include the district’s Chief Continuous Improvement Officer Joe Ernst and Chief Academic Officer Troy Parks.
The external finalists are Charles McNulty, the superintendent of an Arkansas school district; Christopher Bernier, a former Clark County School District administrator who recently resigned as superintendent of a Florida school district after voters passed a referendum that made his position elected instead of appointed; and Elizabeth Fagen, the superintendent of a Houston-area school district, who was at risk of losing her job recently after an investigation faulted her husband for workplace misconduct while he worked as a district leader.
Fagen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The district’s school board will interview the finalists in late April and expects to name the next superintendent in mid-May.
