A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled an area near Silver Springs Wednesday. It was felt in the greater Sparks area and followed up with at least four notable tremors ranging from 2.6 to 4.8 magnitude.
The swarm struck at 10.23 a.m. It was in an area that has seen increased seismic activity.
County officials say anyone who felt the shaking should:
- Check yourself and others for injuries
- Inspect your home for any damage or hazards
- Be prepared for possible aftershocks
- Avoid damaged buildings and downed power lines
Anyone who experienced damage is asked to contact local authorities.
