This year marks two Great Basin milestones: the 40th anniversary of Great Basin National Park and the 10th anniversary of the Great Basin Observatory—the only research-grade observatory located within a U.S. national park.
Over the last decade, the Observatory has opened doors to discovery, connecting students and researchers with world-class dark skies and inspiring people to look up with curiosity and take steps to protect the increasingly rare natural darkness.
In the coming months, we’ll be celebrating the impact of the Great Basin Observatory, from the students whose lives have been shaped through hands-on research experiences to the supporters, educators, scientists, and stargazers who have helped make it all possible. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
