Spanish Springs claimed a share of the High Desert League title on Monday with a tournament title at Sierra Sage.
The Cougars, who have won three straight tourneys since finishing the runner up in the opener, carded a 346 – three strokes better than Reno. McQueen (366) finished third. North Valleys and Reed did not have enough golfers to turn in a team score. Hug did not have a participant.
For the second straight tournament, Spanish Springs’ Emma Gilmore and Jada McAlister both shot a 78 to share medalist honors. This time, however, Gilmore had the lowest score on the back to win the tiebreaker.
Ciara Hornabarger (94) and Katelyn Gilbertson (96) rounded out the Cougs’ card.
For Reed, Abby Horner led the way with a 91. Kaitlin Fleiner shot a 93 and Darby Grow finished with a 107.
The HDL circuit continues next Thursday at Hidden Valley Country Club. It is one of the two final league tournaments of the year. Spanish Springs will wrap up the outright league title with a win in either one.
