Spanish Springs is the outright 2016 High Desert League champion.
The Cougars fired a team score of 355 on Thursday at Hidden Valley, three strokes better than runner up, McQueen. The league-clinching win was the Cougs’ fourth straight since taking second in the first tournament of the year.
Reno (374) took third and Reed (407) took fourth. It was the first time this season the Raiders’ had enough golfers to turn in a team score.
Jada McAlister fired a 74 to earn medalist honors for the second time in three weeks. She was tied for the lowest score last week at Sierra Sage as well, but lost the tiebreaker to teammate Emma Gilmore. Gilmore shot the tournament’s second-lowest score, a 79.
Ciara Hornbarger and Katelyn Gilbertson both shot 101s to round out Spanish Springs’ card.
Sophomore Kaitlin Fleiner led Reed with an 81. She was followed by Abby Horner (97), Darby Grow (102) and Mariah Ortiz (127).
The HDL circuit concludes Wednesday at Somersett.
