Spanish Springs holds off Douglas
The Cougars improved to 6-2, 3-0 in the 4A North with a 77-64 home win over Douglas on Thursday night.
Douglas dipped to 2-6, 1-2.
The Cougs held just a 50-45 lead going to the fourth quarter, where they outscored their guests 27-19.
Marcus Loadholt scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the win. Josh Prizina (12 points) and Damani Craig (10 points) also reached double figures.
Tre Jackson led the Tigers, who committed 25 turnovers in the loss, with 17 points.
Spanish Springs now shifts its focus to a pivotal early season matchup on Friday night at home against Galena (9-1, 3-0).
Raiders bested by Senators
Reed fell at home to Carson on Thursday night, 60-36.
The Raiders sunk to 1-4, 1-1 in the 4A North while the reigning regional champs picked up their first win, improved to an identical 1-4, 1-1 record.
Franz Castillo led the Raiders with 12 points. Jeremy Ramos had 11. Nobody else in a Reed jersey with more than four.
Carson’s Tez Allen led all scorers with 22 points.
The Raiders remain at home on Friday night to host Douglas (2-6, 1-2).

Raiders rout Senators
Janae Bluehorse scored 22 points as Reed cruised to an 82-42 home win over Carson on Thursday night.
Bluehorse was one of four Raiders to score in double figures. Taylor Johnson had 17 and both Autumn Wadsworth and Vanessa Hernandez had 11 as the Raiders improved to 3-2, 2-1 in the 4A North.
Lauren Lemburg led the Senators with 22 points (3-3, 0-3). She was the only Carson player with more than six points.
The Raiders led 25-11 after the first quarter and 38-26 at the half. The lead ballooned to 59-36 going to the fourth.
Reed continues 4A North play on Friday night with a home game against Douglas (2-5, 1-2).
Spanish Springs handles Douglas
Spanish Springs remained unbeaten in 4A North on Thursday night with a convincing 58-26 home over Douglas.
The Cougars improved to 4-3, 3-0. The Tigers dropped to 2-5, 1-2 in the 4A North.
Anhelica Shanrock led Spanish Sprigns with nine points. Ireland Bennett, Mackenzie O’Connell and Amidori Anderson finished with eight.
Spanish Springs will attempt to remain unbeaten in regional play on Friday night at home against Galena (3-3, 1-2).
