The City of Sparks will host a street renaming celebration to officially rename a section of Kietzke Lane, between Galletti Way and Victorian Avenue, to Battle Born Way. This name change will provide a new address for the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home. The home’s address will be 36 Battle Born Way recognizing Nevada as the 36th state to join the Union.
The event will take place on Nevada Day with Governor Brian Sandoval, Sparks Mayor Geno Martini, members of the Sparks City Council and the Nevada Department of Veterans Services Director Kat Miller in attendance.
“This new street name and address symbolizes and demonstrates the reverence and strong support in our community for our military, veterans and their families,” Governor Brian Sandoval said. “I commend the City of Sparks for making the effort and taking the steps to make this happen. It is this kind of support that ensures together, we are making Nevada the most military and veteran friendly state in the nation.”
“We are excited to rename this portion of Kietzke Lane to Battle Born Way,” said Mayor Geno Martini. “Renaming this section will honor the new Northern Nevada Veterans Home, pay tribute to its future veteran residents and to Nevada’s military history.”
Nevada Department of Veterans Services Director Kat Miller said, “This new street name and new address fills one with pride as its significance is immediately recognized. It honors the service and sacrifices made. We can’t thank the City of Sparks for being such a tremendous partner.”
