The current ruckus at the Mexican Border is turning out to be exactly what President Trump forecast it to be. The invasion doesn’t come in the form of the steel-helmeted, jack booted uniformed soldiers carrying assault weapons. Rather it is a straggly bunch of ordinary looking civilians, some of whom bull rushed the border using women and children as their shields while they throw objects such as bottles, rocks and hunks of cement at our border guards. As promised Trump has authorized the use of chemical weapons to drive the invaders back.
As the situation now stands the governments of both Tijuana and Mexico are finding it almost impossible to deal with the situation.
The main stream media that pooh-poohed Trumps earlier warning that the migrant caravan was dangerous, now has significant egg on their faces.
Purportedly the people of the caravan are fleeing untenable conditions in their home countries but on the other hand are probably waving large flags of those terrible countries.
So far the flood of immigrants has failed to reach the border***
As promised the Bill and Hilary Clinton road show has begun and if the early appearance in Canada is any indication of what is to come it looks like it will be a case of two people living inside a glass house and tossing stones.
In her first monologue Hilary effrontery accused President Trump of trying to cover-up a single murder in Turkey. She seems to have forgotten that she was complicit in the massive cover-up on the Benghazi murder of four Americans. Once again she blamed women that could not think for themselves for voting for her adversary Donald Trump. In this respect she was joined by an outburst from Hollywood liberal Barbra Streisand. Speaking of Hollywood it was just announced that the Trump- bashing episode of Murphy Brown against ICE resulted in the cancellation of the program. Although Candice Bergen probably did not write the script she willingly acted her part as if she enjoyed it. Having met her dad Edgar on numerous occasions I am sure he is rolling in his grave. ***
On the political scene the combined superstar power of Barack Obama and Oprah could not drag Ms. Abrams across the finish line in the Georgia Governor ship race. In true Democrat fashion Ms. Abrams did not concede the race but instead she said she lost it because of dirty politics on the part of her Republican opponent. The mainstream media, which vilified Trump when he refused to say whether or not he would except the results of the presidential election should Hilary win, was quick to support Abrams claims. ***
On the seldom watched television show “the View” the matriarch Joy Behar continues to bemoan the fact that the country is run by all white people. If she would take the time to look in the mirror she would find out that she is one of the group that she despises. ***
On the local sports scene the big news is that University of Nevada’s basketball team is ranked number 5 in the nation, well ahead of powerhouses North Carolina and Kentucky. Their sweetest victory to date was a win over Loyola the team that knocked them out of the NCAA last year. Coach Musselman has done a magnificent job by filling in with two big men at the center spot. It is still difficult to figure out which of the Martin twins is doing what because they are both identical looking. Reliable Jordan Caroline is an active force who can play any position on the floor. ***
Senior citizens of this area, of which I am one, lost a grand champion with the recent passing of Chris McMullen.
He and his wife Connie are best known for their monthly publication, Senior Spectrum. This widely circulated news magazine is distributing at no charge and is chock-full of pertinent news for seniors.
Catering to senior issues has been the mantra of the McMullens for more than a quarter of a century.
The news magazine was quickly followed by the origination and production of “Senior Fest.” this annual event features a large number of booths, many of them of the medical variety, which cater to seniors’ health issues at no cost.
In addition, refreshments and entertainment provided by local sponsors are included.
Chris himself was a master salesman and had a voice for radio and face for television. Wherever his spirit is today, it is bound to create a great deal of illumination.
