Most amazing political news last week occurred on Super Tuesday – or as Joe Biden likes to call it Super Thursday – when Biden seemed to rise from the dead and outmaneuver former Dem leader Bernie Sanders. Biden’s overall performance was probably best illustrated in the state of Massachusetts. Mass. was supposed to go to Elizabeth Warren, but she finished a dismal third. What … [Read more...]
Czars Donaldov & Nixon win Democratic Caucus
“When your enemy is destroying himself, never interfere.” * I’m certain that King Donald never read Napolean but Richard Nixon certainly did and Trump is doing a pretty good imitation. Nixon’s racist divide-and-conquer southern strategy, upon which he hung the euphemism “law and order,” broke the Democratic base electing an re-electing him. Trump has long been doing … [Read more...]
Impeachment Ends
By a near party line vote of 52-48 on Article I: Abuse of Power and a party line vote of 53-47 on Article II: Obstruction of Congress, President Trump was acquitted by the Senate and the faux impeachment jury and trial ended last week. Only one Republican, Senator Mitt Romney of Utah, broke with his party to judge Trump guilty of abuse of power. It was a week of big news … [Read more...]
In Whom Should We Trust Our Future?
A couple of weeks ago at the 50th World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, 17-year-old Swedish environmental scold Greta Thunberg for the second year in a row ranted about eminent climate catastrophe and urged the attendees to do something to prevent it immediately if not yesterday. “In the days running up to the 50th anniversary of the World Economic Forum, I joined a … [Read more...]
Impeachment or Inquisition?
This afternoon the final vote on the Articles of Impeachment will be held. This mercifully will end over two weeks of rancorous debate that occupied wall-to-wall coverage on television. To summarize the ending of the trial, the general consensus is that Adam Schiff and his merry band of prosecutors brought a flawed and unfair case to the Senate. Their overriding theme was … [Read more...]
Faux Impeachment
Today the House Judicial Committee, with Jerry Nadler as chair, will start their impeachment hearings. Because only the Judicial Committee can craft articles of impeachment, it is still unclear whether or not Adam Schiff and his committee are still in action. As Schiff himself may be called to testify, it is unsure whether or not it will be necessary to send him a subpoena. … [Read more...]
Invasion
The current ruckus at the Mexican Border is turning out to be exactly what President Trump forecast it to be. The invasion doesn’t come in the form of the steel-helmeted, jack booted uniformed soldiers carrying assault weapons. Rather it is a straggly bunch of ordinary looking civilians, some of whom bull rushed the border using women and children as their shields while they … [Read more...]
Trumptasic Tree Ornaments for Fun and Prophet
Every harried editor I’ve ever driven crazy at deadline has heard this excuse: “Something came in late and I had to rewrite from scratch. Please be patient.” This is such a time. I was scrambling for a killer lead when conveniently arrived a compelling offer from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the folks distributing defrocked Sen. Dean Heller’s résumé and … [Read more...]
