In anticipation of an future project to widen Sparks Blvd., the City of Sparks will relocate approximately 42 trees to various local parks in the Sparks area.
On Monday, April 8, crews began relocating trees along Sparks Blvd. north and south of O’Callaghan Drive between Baring Blvd. and Prater Way.
The trees will be moved to several Sparks parks including Shelly Park, Shadow Mountain Park, Golden Eagle Regional Park, and Les Hicks Jr. Park. The project will take about two weeks to complete.
“This is a great opportunity for us to relocate healthy trees that would have eventually been removed when Sparks Blvd. is widened in this area,” said Assistant Public Works Manager Matt Dearborn. “We are excited for the opportunity to replant them in our local parks.”
